Quite often in X-Men Legacy, Ruth is presented as the ‘sensible’ one in the David-Ruth relationship, often acting as the voice of reason, but I think she should get some credit because sometimes she does things on the exact same level of batshit logic as David.

I mean, let’s look at the start of X-Men Legacy from Ruth’s perspective.

Her headmaster is murdered, and she immediately has a prophetic vision of fighting her dead headmaster’s mentally ill son to the death. Then her teachers take her on a trip halfway around the world, where it turns out that the clinic where the aforementioned son, David, was living has been blown up, there are no survivors except David, who’s on the run.

They eventually catch up to David in Japan, where he’s rescuing two kids from a burning criminal stronghold, and the X-Men attack him, David wins the fight easily, and at this point, Ruth goes up to David and decides to:

Introduce herself.
Snog him.
(worth mentioning that the only things David was wearing at this point were orange sweatpants, a jacket he’d stolen from someone who was trying to kill him, and boots that he’d also stolen from someone who’d tried to kill him)

Ruth, what were you thinking. I am not criticising this, I am impressed.

Ruth Aldine saw her nemesis panicking, half-dressed, exhausted and starved, and decided that it was smooching time. It turned into a super cute relationship but seriously Ruth what were you thinking. (c)
